MediaTek Acquires 50% Stake in Pollex Mobile

Taiwan-based MediaTek recently announced that it has spent US$1 million to buy a 50% stake in Pollex Mobile, a Beijing-based mobile phone software developer. As a result of this acquisition, Pollex will reportedly be renamed, but the new name has not yet been confirmed. The acquisition is expected to enhance MediaTek's software capabilities. Other stockholders in Pollex Mobile include Intel Capital, Samsung Venture Investment, JAFCO Asia, and W.I. Harper.
